Percussion Plus PP652 Shaker

The Percussion Plus PP652 Single Caxixi Seed Shaker is a traditional samba percussion instrument commonly found across Africa and South America particularly in Brazil.

They were originally a hand woven basketwork shaker with a flat bottomed gourd base which were traditionally cut from reed.

Seeds bells or other small particles were placed inside to produce a soft and natural sound when shaken.

Variations in sound are produced by varying the angle at which the caxixi is shaken.
